I've got a headache! - - - Tree Creeper

By HobbitDave
A bit of a 'first' for me today - was working on my computer when this little Tree Creeper decided to have an in-flight argument with my living room window.
The poor little chap was very stunned, but fortunately didn't break his neck, and after some warmth, water, and TLC in my hand, I put him on the bird feeder, where he hung upside down for a few minutes in the position above, and then flew off OK into the hedge behind it.

Frustratingly I upload all my EPZ pictures direct from an iPad and EPZ haven't yet found a way for people to load variants as it uses 'Flash' which iPads don't have.

If anyone would like, I will upload a separate picture in the next couple of days with this same little Tree Creeper in my hand, recovering.

I've revived two Goldcrests this way, but never expected to hold a Tree Creeper. A real privilege. Thank you little bird. Hope you're headache's gone by now.

FZ1000, f5.6, ISO 800, controlled flash as a very cloudy day. Standard not macro camera setting. (I have to add this here as when uploading from an iPad EPZ doesn't add any Exif).

Thanks kindly Bill. I was so glad that s/he recovered, and that I also had a chance to take a picture from closer than usual of one of these elusive little birds!

Poor little thing! How good of you to look after these sweet creatures. I hope he was totally ok after his accident.

Thanks kindly Christina, and as far as I could see he was OK and off into the hedge. He was temporarily completely 'winded' and slightly concussed, but soon revived with the warmth of a hand, and some water on a dropper.
Thanks so much for the UA, that is really appreciated!

Wow - what a lovely story Dave ... I once had a large wood pigeon fly into my glass patio door - it made the most ghastly thud sound, fell to the ground, but eventually gathered himself and flew off ... I'm so glad it did cos I hadn't a clue what to do!
Would love to see your little rescued bird in recovery mode in your hand, Eileen x

Thanks so much Eileen, it was a treat to hold this little one in my hand. Will put a further pic (rather scarily taken with one hand as I didn't wan to drop the camera) tomorrow, was so glad s/he recovered.

Terrific picture - well done.
An all too common event I'm afraid and no practical answer to it.

Thanks very much Uma, they are such pretty little birds, with amazingly long beaks for picking out grubs from between the bark of trees.
