If You Go Down In the Woods Today........

By baclark
Hi everyone, many thanks for the C&C's on - Moore Heads. Here's one of the sculptures in the wooded part of the gardens where most of the pieces are situated. This bronze piece is called 'Hill Arches' from 1973 and is 550cm long. It caught my imagination and I took several shape and pattern shots, which I'll show soon.

There were many other people enjoying the setting too, lying around sunbathing, reading, having picnics, but I wanted to just concentrate on the sculptures. From this angle, I just needed to clone out half a sandal! Pity the daffodils were over, woud have looked wonderful with them, but this was the first day of the exhibition so I couldn't have got here earlier!

Thanks for looking. V2 flipped version, any preferences?

An interesting angle on this sculpture, which to my eyes looks so like a woman about to give birth with her partner/midwife giving support.
V1 for me, but I don't know why!

V1 for me, seems easier on the eye; if that makes sense.

I think V2 portrays this better, to my way of looking! Either way, it's a great image!

I like V1, but that is the way I "read" images. Love these statues, will have to get down there soon.

ah, the left/right thing! V1 for me, it is better to have the light on the right, for me

Excellent capture, Barbara, again lovely lighting picking out the form of the sculptures. Both versions work well, but I think V1 for me - reading the image from left to right, the eye is taken from the empty area towards the sculptures Smile

V1 for me - but why?
Its interesting how we "read" a picture. My eye moves from left to right, so in v2 I end up focusing on the lovely arch of the tree, which I hardly notice in v1.
So if the focus is the sculpture it needs to be v1 for me
I like to write my comment first before being influenced by other people's views and then read back - so I can see I am not alone in reading this from left to right. There is also a slight rise in the horizon which works better than the fall if the image is flipped Smile

This mirroring is strange. Firstly, I went for V2, then started flipping from one to the other, and realise that the "space" looks better where it is in V1.
