This photograph taken only yesterday on a bright but somewhat overclouded afternoon, depicts the beautiful and rather magnificent Ightham Mote. As you first enter the property a sense of magic surrounds this medieval moated manor house. Set in tranquil gardens, hidden deep in the Kent countryside with its water sounds and secret glades it is a truly picturesque place. It's a house spanning centuries and if walls could talk it would have a lot to say: the crypt of the medieval knight, the painted ceiling of a Tudor courtier, an American's take on n English country paradise plus the only Grade I listed dig kennel in the country. The gardens are as equally diverse as the house - a formal lawn, flower borders secret glades and a sweetly scented cuttings garden. And then there are walks and views taking in lakes, and orchard, ancient bluebell woodland and Kentish farmland. All adding up to a photographers dream.
