Thanks to Jas2 for posting 'The Detective' in the Critique Gallery, and thus suggesting my post for today - the wonderful Geoff Amos modelling at a Film Noir event we ran a while back at Bodyline Studio in Long Eaton. The version will be a 'behind the scenes' shot. The weapon is entirely wooden, by the way!

My blog today is about the impossibility of 'having it all' - inspired by the low number of views yesterday's blog received. It contained nudity, and thus is less visible, behind the 18-plus label...

Nice atmospheric image, John. Geoff reminds me of Spike Milligan in this pose. Splendid shadow too.

Reminiscent of "The St Valentine's Day Massacre"

I feel that this image, which appears to glamourise weapons and gangsters, should have an 18 label. I find it far more offensive than any of the nude photography on epz.

My first thought was 'Spike Milligan' too.
That light is great, some lovely shadows.
Love the location.

Andy, my intention was definitely not to glamourise - and as I pointed out above, it's wooden. I have absolutely no desire to be anywhere near real firearms.

I understand your point, certainly - but there's quite enough glamourisation of violence in films, comics and elsewhere to make this seem innocuous, I'd have thought.

I'll be really interested in the views of others - it's certainly a point that merits discussion.

Back in the prohibition days and Al Capone! Nice shadow of the Tommy Gun, but somehow, I feel with the raincoat and soft hat, he does not look very menacing. Santa Claus in disguise?

Looks more sinister when viewed large. Like the shadows and location. Fully understand Andy's point and you definitely did too but certainly didn't think you were out to glamourise weapons or gangsters with this image. It is hardly Peaky Blinders.

Terrific fun shots with great shadows - which seem so innocent and not at all scary! (The crime books I read make these look like nursery rhymes)

PS. I was just hoping it wasn't Jimmy Saville come back to haunt us!

Had to come back and comment JuBarney - you are so right. The likeness got me as well but I thought there was enough debate going on!! WinkWinkWink

I'll crawl back into the woodwork now...

Totally agree, John. And, as I have commented elsewhere, how many people who view the ePz galleries are going to see this as glamourizing weapons?

Hardly glamourising it.
A good moody film noir type shot.
As well as tv and films let's not forget computer games.
