this was taken at my nieces christening of one of the guests. the baby was only couple weeks old and the mum was sitting in quite a dark part of the hall, having just fed the baby, I didn't want to disturb them as she looked so adorable so I took the flash off. the original photo was quite dark and had lots more of the mums back in it.
I cropped and lightened in ps, but dont know what else to do.

I love the soft grainy look but have no idea how or why this happened as I'm new to digital slr's and ps. can anyone explain
