Insects #22

By handlerstudio
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

In context of EPZ, perhaps one of my more esoteric insect photos (at least one I have never see here). It is a water strider....with pads at the end of their feet, they "walk on water"...so to speak. I do not know their life cycle..but they do not to my knowledge at any point fly. The live at very least in NE North America (I have seen them all my life).

I was going to say that's the first time I've mistaken an insect for a drone

Then I saw Colleen's comment Grin

Good shot Peter

I know of a similar insect in the UK - I don't know the proper name, but commonly called water boatmen.

Interesting insects, Peter. In the summer I will sit by our pond and try to take pictures of these water skaters. I watched them, it's just a problem to get close to them. I'll catch this insect in the aquarium. SmileSmileSmile
