"Inside ...... Out"

By RonnieAG
I find these Phlox blooms a difficult subject and I am not 100% happy with these but I thought I'd share them with you......their the best of many attempts.

V 1: Inside........a single stem captured in the usual way at the KS studio.
V 2: Out............a clump of the Phlox caught in the last sun of the day and deliberately underexposed.

Many thanks for all the kind comments on From The Burrell and with extra special thanks to Kate {Irishkate} for her User Award.

Composition lighting and colours are excellent Ronnie, agree that sometimes you are too hard on yourself.

Whilst I understand your difficulty with the outside shot- the inside one is perfect for me.. The light and tones could not be better, sharpness is everywhere. The only trifling point might be the contrast between the green and the black but the I wouldn't know how to mprove this.
As to v2 it is the multitude which puzzles most of us. Where do you crop, how close do you get.
I think your solution to let the surrounding greens disappear is successful , but it must have been difficult to find the right frame.

As a mass of flowers they do look difficult to capture
in a pleasing composition.
Singled out your image is perfect Ronnie.
Good on the diagonal against the black.
Green border suits beautifully.

The problem with Phlox is the lack of contrast in the individual flowers, but you have done extremely well with these images Ronnie. Your usual high standard Smile

As Barry points out the flower is rather amorphous, although well captured with the darker exposure in v2. v1 was definitely the way to go. Colour, aspect, and presentation very good, Ronnie.

These are very pretty. Interesting reading the above comments and I doubt I have anything else to add! I've just planted a small clump of white Flox in hopes they decide to multiply - it's a plant I have failed with a few times before!

v1 is stunning Ronnie. The dark background really shows the pink phlox off to its best. v2 is also beautiful, but I had to choose, so v1 it was!

V1 is a delight Ronnie, lovely composition too coming out of the corner like that.

I have to say that my first reaction was, what the flox is that?

V1 looks good to me, Ronnie, but I know what you mean, clusters of flowers aren't the easiest to deal with, and you did the right thing here by isolating one stem.

Two belters Ronnie, I must say I am drawn towards the singled stem, as it lends itself to more of my attention.

Not happy with these, I'd be over the moon if they were mine. You are your harshest critic Ronnie and I see nothing wrong with these at all, they are up to your usual consistently high standards that you've set on here over the years.
