I agree Gavin that this is a different take on the usual train photography and a good use of colour popping.

I have uploaded a mod for you where I have cloned out the white sign on the left and the speed sign just below. I am sure you could do a better job with more time. I also wondered whether a tighter crop would work better. The impact of the colour gets slightly lost as there is so much grey around. See what you think.

Great idea though.

Best wishes

Catherine

I too have uploaded a mod, here I have streatched the train with the transform tool, I duplicated the layer and changed the blend mode to overlay to boost the contrast and bring out the colour a bit, finally I added a vignette to darken the corners to focus attention on the train.
Hope you don't mind.

I would love to see the original of this Gavin, - Im not so sure colour popping is the best approach. Could you upload it as a mod?

Thanks Gavin.

I like the colour version personally, - but I can see why it would suggest selective colouring. The trees over the bridge have little colour, and low contrast.

So, taking a different approach, Ive modified the original colour as in mod1, by cropping, adding space at the top (increase canvas and clone in), removing the signage and straightening. I increased contrast and sharpness in the upper area.

Then I tried in mod2, to suggest the train is disappearing into a mysterious place, - to assist the obvious darkness of the tunnel, by de saturating the upper part, - i.e. beyond the start of the tunnel, and added a misty effect with diffuse glow.

Hope this gives you some other ideas,

regards

Everyone to there own. I would leave it alone - I like what you have done as is. I would leave the signs in as they don't pull the eyes from the very insistent train.
