Invasion of York

By TrevBatWCC
First of all I would very much like to thank the following for taking the time and making the effort for our EPZ invasion of York yesterday: Moira and Bill Wooldridge (the Woolybills), Barbara Hirst & Jon Webber, Lynne Joyce, Phil Haigh (phil99), David Webster (twelvemegs), Rob Mills (Rock)...and not forgetting Mervyn the dog! Smile
Not the best day for train travel - my journey to Leeds from home was disrupted by a points failure, myself Lynne and Phil were delayed near Garforth due to signalling problems, and on the second leg of my journey home from Leeds, the train broke down at the first station stop Sad The 20 minute journey took 50 minutes!
However, it was a super day out with such a lovely bunch of people, and the weather was perfect too with lotsa sunshine Smile
V1 is a shot of some Russian Babushka dolls on one of the stalls in the open market on Parliament Street; V2 shows from left to right Rob (well, half of him), Lynne, Bill and Moira; V3 Barbara; Moira again in V4, photographing the Magic Ball Man featured in her upload.

Single Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Photomatix Pro and Elements 6.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

Trev Smile

Despite the difficulties in travel arrangements, sounds as if you all had a great day in York, Trev: love all the colours in V 1 and with the others it's so nice to be able to put faces to what have only been names for me. Interesting to see so many Nikons in use.

V1 - I remember you taking that. It's lovely the way this concentrates attention on the sweet little upturned face in the front row. As for the rest - V2 is a hoot, all those DSLRs posing with the poinsettias, very festive. Super shot of Babs at V3, I'll say no more about V4...
It was a great day, and thanks again for organizing it. Sorry to hear that you had further delays on the way home too though.
And do get your shot of the juggler/magician up soon, He was a terrific subject.

PS Just read your comment on mine, I got a view of the face looking through the ball too. Do get yours uploaded because I'll be very interested to see how your processing enhances it.

Cracking set of colour in V1 enhanced by the shallow dof, and beautifully presented. Some even more colourful characters in our little meet - V3 is a cracker Smile

Thanks again for the organisation, Trev; a shame to hear about your further delays on the return. Our turn next I think!

Best wishes

A cracking set, Trev, and thank you for giving us the names in each of the images, as Ronnie so rightly said, it's good to be able to put a face to a name now Smile Carol

Super series Trev apart from version 2 which is undoubtedlythe worst photograph I have ever had taken!!! I shall search my archive of the day's shots to find a revenge image of you!!!

Seriously, it was a lovely day spent in a visual feast of a city and in convivial company. Thanks to all who were there and thanks to Ruthanette who started the whole thing but unfortunately could not attend on the day.

By the way Ade_Osman, my CANON was stashed in my backpack, completely barred from the Nikon parade.

Hi Trevor, great shots from York. I'm really sorry I missed it but pleased to say Wiz came through his operation and is doing well.

Sounds like you all had a fabulous time, like all the shots Trev but especially V1. Very colourful and brought back memories for me - I had one of those dolls when I was a child, fascinated me and I'd spend so much time taking them out and staciing them back together again!

Nice collation of your group. I was in York myself in September so can relate to all your photos of the lanes etc.
The dolls are Matroyska, Babushka is Russian for Grandma…….
