Ireland's Best View!

By Andrew_Hurley
This is known as Ireland's Best Known Viewpoint and is on the Ring of Kerry near Catherdaniel. This was taken mid afternoon so the light wasn't great and I have certainly not done it justice. I felt a mono conversion was more flattering.

A new bar/restaurant has opened nearby which, understandably, offer the best known viewpoint i Ireland from a restaurant - simply stunning.

All comments and votes very welcome indeed.

Beautiful photograph! Love it in mono!

Sorry, but i think you have totally killed this beautiful view. Mono does not work for this breath taking site. I was there earlier this year myself and have some beautiful justified images of this view. I feel if you were to add a colour image, well true justice would be done, and perhaps more votes. JIM..

I would like to see the colour version, but knowing the Irish coastline pretty well, its hard to do it justice in any medium. Just back from Connamara with Porthos and was not able to get a decent coastline shot in 3 days. I think your mono adds that ruggedness that the Irish coastline is all about. Bombolini

Quote:WHY MONO?

I took the photo in harsh early afternoon daylight (far from ideal for landscapes), I thought a mono conversion would be more suitable. I would have posted the colour version if the shot was taken much later in the day. I'll post the colour version tonight and you can see the difference between the two.

I agree, this photo really doesn't do the Irish Coastline any justice at all. A 3 foot panoramic might! Connomara is stunning and I believe that trying to get a decent shot is difficult. Landscape photography is harder than people think. Looking forward to seeing some of your work all the same.

Jim, you're probably right, I'll pop a colour version on tonight and let the jury decide!

Thank you Mr Bromley-Smith for your comments.
