What I like about your photo is the great composition, apart from that it needs a bit of editing i.e. color and impact. Have uploaded a Mod with additional color and a chop or two.

Missing something for me. I accept the composition but I would expect the road to lead to something and it goes nowhere. This is subjective, and will be a 'Marmite' image, but you do need to brighten a touch and I think f22 was maybe a little too small. Not the ideal aperture for most zoom lenses.

The straight road, straight down the middle sort of splits the picture into two. This sort of picture is better when there is a twist or turn in the road so that it leads to somewhere - but you know not where - but would like to find out.

It is best to avoid both extremes of a zoom lens, generally any lens in fact, as they are the least efficient parts and with 18mm (27mm old 35mm) DoF is not a consideration. It is also generally better to dial in +1 into exposure compensation to allow for the effect of the bright snow on the camera's built in meter.

Good winter scene. As Paul says some will like and some will not like the composition. Composition is always a matter of taste, there are rules but the best images nearly always break them. I like this image, the road disappearing in the distance appeals to my sense of being. A feeling of travel.
Good detail in most of the snow
As a winter scene there is very little colour anyway so I've done a mod where I converted to BW, cropped a little sky, sharpened and adjusted contrast in curves.
Lots of view and suggestions, take those you find helpful and work with with them. We all tend to see images in the light of our own experiences.

hi all, thanks for the input everyone,
paul, i thought that because the road did'nt end as such was a big part of the photo, but as i say i am no expert and any input is welcome.
mike, i like your mod but its a little too brown for me, thanks though.
iancrowson, the b&w mod is good, i sometimes find turning photos to b&w that i think i make them a bit to stark.
thanks again
