Is that a tounge???

This shot of a blue tailed damselfly was taken last night at around 9.15pm due to the lack of light i used a iso800 turned down flash, manual focus (would not focus with auto). Hand held

Excellent detail Luke. I don't think they have a Tongue as such, I suspect its part of the extensible jaw / mandibles. (You can see something similar in my Alien .

You've controlled the noise very well yet still kept the detail - good work

I always focus manually for this kinda shot, just find it easier.....Incredible sharpness, nice one Luke!

Class macro work Luke,it looks as though it is chomping for Britain.That is some texture,or should i say armour plating,tones and lighting.Stunning capture and composition.Take care.AnnSmile
