It's A Hard Life

By Goggz
This is a picture I really like a lot so it's bound to bomb.

Taken on day two at the Giant's Causeway, here is Irishman (Martin Fleming) getting his hungover head around another photographic problem. Despite his frown, he is a very witty and sharp-minded chap Smile

It's the focus point that works for me. What do you think?

Cheers, Goggz

i can see why you like it, its an interesting portrait, well placed location, and composition, the focus forces your eye right up to Martin, so in that sense, it works perfectly.

Probably one of the best 'pap' shots I've seen. The location is obvious straight away and I like the use of focus, great work Smile

Love it too, Pete. Martin looks totally absorbed and the focus and location are great.

I think he's actually asleep isn't he ? Wink

Seriously though Pete, I like this one a lot, the selective focus works really well and those telltale shaped rocks make the location instantly recognisable.

Absolutely, the focus works. Drawn to this because of the polygonal jointing and selective weathering (creating the characteristic causeway form) are shown so well, but it is such a good portrait, too! And, Martin, it needed something just there, and looks like you were it...!

I really like this because it is storytelling and I love pictures that tell a story.
