Its winter everything is dead (or asleep)

By waltknox
Oh my -30. degrees celsius right now out my door in Southern Alberta. We go down to -43. with the windchill tonite . Needless to say I won't be gong anywhere tonite .. can be dangerous if your car breaks down on you. On the bright side we have a Chinook coming to southern Alberta on -of which we are renown for and this time next week will be 9 above zero ! People who suffer migraines are not fond of the big temperature swings we can get here in winter.
Very pleased you liked my Christmas card image shown in my last upload, thanks for all the V`s and C`s and special thanks to Jeff (KoJack), Richard, Steve, Mike, Bob, Geoff, Ju , and Vince for their valued awards,
stay warm spring is coming ....eventually
cheers Walt

My mistake -44 celsius tonite ...means exposed skin can get frostbite in minutes.

Is this called the Dead Cow Ranch?

Its a great cold image---
The tropical 60+ degrees have left us --enter stage left--some cold drizzly rain and fog--which we hope does not freeze!

Enjoy whatever good book you are reading!

Hopefully not too many dead cows or horses for our ranchers due to the cold snap Jenn! W

Your images speak to us all Walt, yes I can remember those temperature in my spell in Montreal. Minus 42 one evening I recall.
Stay warm Walt and look after yourself.

A great idea to go for black & white on this one, Walt, a great result. (Even when you have more white than black.) Smile

A terrific shot of what we might think of as a typical ranch,
and brass monkeys come to mind, so stay warm!

Superb mono capture, Walt.
Great title.
Your narrative about the wintry conditions S.Alberta is stark.
Hope the Chinook's arrival helps to reduce the feeling of isolation.
