Must be a hard job digging in the frozen ground, or is there a different way of dealing with this situation? Thanks again for your travelogue, most interesting to me.

Indeed there is. Where they can't dig, they usually cover a body with stones - see one I posted called "Serenity" of one such burial ground. When they can dig seasonally, they'll sometimes dig graves proactively; not for any specific occupant in mind, but just to have them in case they're needed in the winter.
