the stained-glass window in the back adds an extra dimension, and TIL (Today I Learned) it's a reclining statue..
beautifully done, dear Moira..

Love the composition Moira. I'm always impressed by the detail in these sculptures.
Stone, wood or plaster cast, the skill of the artists is so often overlooked and very often
uncredited. The folds of the coat, his eyebrows even the detail in his thumb. It's all very
clever and something i'm absolutely hopeless at.

Me too. All that time and effort, the patience, the dedication, the skill.

Yes, the inclusion and placement of the window is fundamental to the story here.

The details of the sculpture is superb and of course your interpretation of it. Including the out of focus stained-glass window completes the picture.

Thanks folks, and thanks to Joline for the UA.
The stained glass window was unavoidable to I decided to make it a part of the composition. And with any figurative sculpture I approach the subject as if it were a live model...
Reclining will follow tomorrow.

Now if mobile phones had been invented he’s in just the right pose. Fine image Moira, nice balance with the window.
