James Martin Memorial Fountain

By uggyy
The James Martin Memorial Fountain was built by Walter Macfarlane & Co (fl. 1849-1965, its located now at Glasgow Green, near the People's Palaceand was erected: 1893-4.

James Henderson Martin (1815-92) Seems to have been a very highly regarder person in Glasgow, holding various positions in the community. There used to be a bust of the Gentleman but it was take away for safty and then lost :-(

Anyway, enough history, I took this picture a little while back and thought I would put the final touches to it. Smile

Showing in the back is a typical Glasgow tenemant building, made of the red sandstone.

All the Best, Tommy

(Lot of this information was from the site) Its funny the places you walk past a hunder times and miss.

I've only ever made flying visits to Glasgow and not stopped long enough to have a good look round (I tend to stick to Edinburgh). Maybe next time I'm up there I'll take a closer look.

You've made a good job of this image Tommy, I like how you've captured all the details in the window refections, pin sharp, was it an HDR ?

Yes but 1 raw image did +2, +1, 0, -1, -2 and then tone mapped a little ott and then did a few fun things to get it to where I wanted it.

I like the processing and the colours Tommy, but this one is all a bit busy for me. The detail in the foreground is fighting with the detail in the background IMO.

Hey-ho Sad

Agree with Dave, fountain tends to get lost in the background.

Hey Tom. We 're just wondering if you have any shots taken with your long lenses showing the background with less definition? The building is great but perhaps you could have struck a nicer balance between the two with a little blur.

We like it all the same.

Yer pal Tony.... over at my pal Andys.

No I was quite close to it at the time. More a grab shot to be honest, liked the tones and building Smile Might revisit and try this again.
