Jarred Rose

By RachelMB
I've seen cake-in-a-jar before and when I was sent a recipe by e-mail the other day I thought I'd give it a go. The recipe was for a layered pink and brown chocolate cake, but I decided to do a 1-egg sponge mixture with ground almonds and almond essence. I dyed half of the mixture pink using food colouring, layered it into two jars and scattered some flaked almonds on top Smile And then, just because I've never tried making them before, I made some fondant flowers to go on top.

These were made last weekend and were not Valentines cakes...I don't like Valentines day _ (but that doesn't mean I don't like pretty things!) So I wasn't a total sell-out, I did the roses in pink and yellow. Not red. Lol!

The roses outside of the jar are some bath decorations I was given years ago which have had many uses as decorations (none of which involve baths...) and the red material is a scarf.

I nearly uploaded this on Thursday, but I just couldn't :XD:

You made the rose inside the jar?! Wow - it looks very realistic!

I had to mush the top of the cake down and kind of drop it in so it stood up, lol! (The rose) I was rather pleased with it. Quite easy to do, too!

Thanks Smile
