The Jay (garrulus glandarius)
A beautiful woodland bird that will often be found in parks and gardens. It is a rather shy bird which may become tamer over a period of time if left undisturbed.During the Autumn he spends a great deal of time collecting acorns which he then buries in preparation for winter food.
A strong and active bird.

My ever grateful thanks for all the c/c's for the previous posting.

A super capture of this bird. As you say they are very shy. I have one that comes in my garden but he is off like a shot at my slightest movement.

A great image Ron, these birds have the most beautiful markings - we have one that has become attached to some magpies, and I am afraid it is learning some of their not so very nice habits. Never a dull moment with wildlife!

Excellent image of the Jay, Ron, pin-sharp and the eye is perfectly in focus.
I never knew Jays ate acorns... the things one learns on EPZ.
