JAZZ BAND

By cymru2019
EPZERS please do not award me any kind of recognition for this shot, not even a vote! The only reason I have uploaded it is for the look on the guitarists face as he sees the saxophone player having a sly drink leaving the others to carry on playing. Incidentally the band were really good. I was trying a vintage preset on an app called Hipstamatic on my I-phone. The image in itself has failed miserably but still the look on the musicians face......

Well worth a vote, David - the sly snifter has definitely caught the envious eye of the seated strummer!!

Do not run yourself down, David. This we would class as street photography, and looks spontaneous with no forward planning, the essence of this genre.

I'd say there's not a lot wrong with it as a street shot. You've caught several interesting expressions, and that's a valid goal.

What makes you think that this isn't a worthwhile way to take a picture?

Neither the app, a mobile, or the particular look are unsuitable, at all.
Ian and Carole Thanks for your very valuable remarks which I will take on board! John - I was surprised to see the expressions too but though the quality of the picture was poor. I have learnt a lot by posting this shot! David

Sheer technical quality is not always the be-all and end-all of photography... It's desirable, mostly, but content trumps everything - in the same way that culture in an organisation always trumps the systems. Good systems and bad culture give poor resutls. Good culture can turn things round in spite of systems.
Thanks John. David
