Jeep in The Rain

By arhab
This was taken on the rain. My goal is to capture the rain situation so I used faster shutter speed than slow ss. The unedit was dark, I almost delete it. but, I then download to computer and edit it and giving the result that quite good for me i think Grin. The flash, i think not useless maybe because too far or my flash setting to weak?. On histogram there is sign clipping and that's explained to me why on exif said overexposure, even on the image doesn't look. Comment and critique welcome.

Iactually rather like this. Very grainy and a bit washy, but effective. It looks like it's raining, and that comes over well in mono. Your flash would probably only carry about 5 metres, even at ISO400, but may have helped. Looks like an old WW2 photo in the monsoon. Looks like a very old Jeep too, an original Willy's perhaps.

My son stores an Ex-Vietnam jeep at his garage. Used in Full Metal Jacket. Must ask the owner if I can get some shots.

Having struggled to drag any good detail from the shadows, you have achieved a texture that looks like a sketch! I don't think you can do much more with the rain, but I quite like it in a funny sort of way.

The 'treatment' works for me, as if you did this intentionally. Hope you have remembered how to repeat the exercise.

Works very well. Loaded a mod I just played with a little, adding some hints of colour here and there.

What you are seeing on the histogram is that bright light on the right, - it should be a narrow band, - so its shows there is one overexposed point in the scene. If you have a night mode on the camera, give it a try.

Well done

@Paul: You are right Paul, the flash helped. Without it i think the scene will absolutely black. I don't know the brand of the jeep but it is old. too bad the owner leave it in the rain. You must take the shoot Paul, You know... remembering your young time.. Tongue

@Frank: I remember the step Frank. Brighten, change the saturation curve, change the luminance curve, smart blur to reduce noise and sharpen.

@Willie: I can see the colour you added (the back of the jeep). Now it looks shiny on that part.. Smile

@Nick: Thank you Nick, and for everyone. Have a nice day.
