"Jelly Babies"

By RonnieAG
I have been foraging for fungi for many years in Pollok Country Park (Glasgow) but it was only last summer that I came across these tiny mushrooms. That were about 2.5 cm. high and found at the bases of beech trees. Apparently some say they are edible, others not, but at any rate they have no culinary interest despite their name........known as Jelly Babies, their botanical name is Leotia Lubrica.

My thanks to all who commented on Peace and with special thanks to David {Granddad), Colleen (ColleenA) and Sue (SUE118) for their User Awards.

Ronnie.

One more for your wonderful collection of fungi, Ronnie, what a beautiful colour these have, hopefully edible for some small animal. Thanks for sharing with us.

They are rather like Jelly Babies, especially in the thumbnail! A super close-up of this cluster, Ronnie 😃👍

Knowing the size of the moss--helps to indicate the tiny size of these "Jelly Babies". a beautiful image!
