Hi Iain_C

Great shot’ just the sort of photography I would like to aspire too. Do you specialise in portrait. And do you find the Lastolite Hi-Lite 6x7' a good piece of kit as i have been looking at them and the Lumin8 Strobes.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for the compliment Smile
I'm still a learner myself buy yes i mostly do portrait and fashion shots in the studio.

I find the Lastolite Hilite an excelent bit of kit very portable and produces the perfect white bacground without any fuss, just make sure your background lights are around 2 stops brighter than your keylight.
I initialy bought only two Lumin8 lights but would always recomend getting the 4, Lastolite say that you can get the perfect white bacground using only one light but i find you have to turn the power up too high which spills light back onto your subject.

The kicker light is an excellent bit of kit as well but much larger than i was expecting.

Hope this helps, if you need to know anything elese just ask and you can find a list of all my kit in my "About" section.

Hi Iain
Great portrait of a very beautiful young lady.
I have uploaded a mod doing as Robert 5 said above and also giving a soft more contrast look to the picture. Hope you like it.

Thank you for the mod Robert i like it, it would work really well if this was a portrait shot for a client as the softening really focuses your eye on Jens face. But in this instance the softening of the hair defeats the intended purpose of the image which is to show the hair style.

Hi Iain, the lighting looks good and there is good details and tones. For there are a couple of issues with the pose, the crease in the neck could have been helped be asking her to extend her neck upwards a little more. Not comfortable to hold for long but helps remove those creases.
The main issue for me is the area of the neck to the rhs as we look at it under the chin which has the shadow and makes her neck look wide and a little odd. This would be better pushed in using the Liquify tool and push that area in. Doing that I feel would give that area a better look in that area and help the overall look of this.
Hope this is useful critic for this image.

Done a good job on the creases Iain, and feel the neck line is better, but does need some more work
