Jodrell Bank

By Andrew_Hurley
Our camera club (Wallasey Amateur Photographic Society) is holding a Night Time/Twilight competition (judged on 27 January) so I spent from late September to December taking photos after sunset. I visited numerous places, Conway, Caernarvon, Buxton, Blackpool, Jodrell Bank, Ruthin, Liverpool and even Lincoln to get the "perfect" twilight images for the competition.

This was one of the images that couldn't make it into my final selection of 4 prints as I agreed that my friend Dave Herries should enter his version instead. It means I can use it next season in competitions.

This was one of my favourite images and I would really like to use it in the twilight competition but there is no point putting two identical images in the same competition. The L & CPU judge would have a field day!

This is the first time I have ever photographed Jodrell Bank and I am more than please with the final result.

I hope you enjoy looking at it. All comments and votes very gratefully received.

Thanks for looking once again.

Andrew

Andrew I really like the detail of the steel work you have managed to pull out of the shadow, great stuff.

Thank a you all for your comments so far. I felt the detail in the steelwork was important as it would have just resulted in a huge black circle with no detail in it and trust me judges hate that!

Hi Andy,
superb! superb! superb!! not bad either. Seriously I love this, the detail is unbelievable for a twilight shot. This has got to go in for the comp mate, if you do,nt you need your head examined,

I'm glad you like it Steve, not bad I suppose for a first effort at Jodrell Bank. I made a gentleman's agreement with Dave Herries, he can put his version of this image in if I put a version of Blackpool Pier in and he didn't (which incidently only scored 14!). I may save this one for the final competition. I need all the points I can get to beat Fran.

Andrew.
