Judging the moment to run !

By Richsr
Many thanks for all your comments on my last upload very much appreciated.

Festival of San Juan see many different events and one of the most exciting if your Spainish is the bull running.
This event used to take place in the streets of the old town but now it is undertaken in a large car park with steel cages around the outside. The gaps in the cages are wide enough to let a person through but not a bull.
The bulls are in the arena for around 5 mins and a number of young men join them and get chased by the bull. The men are carrying rings which are large enought to slip over the horn of the bull if they get close enough. When they are successful they usually get a big round of applause.

NO Bull were hurt in this event.

Thanks for looking, and worth going large to see the expressions

Regards Richard

Cracking shot Richard, excellent composition, I can't say I would relish the idea of being that close to the bull Smile

Just need to be ready to run into the cages very quickly

Looks as if he may have left it a tad too lateWinkWink.
Great action shot from the event which seems a lot preferable to the bull fighting.
I wonder how many folk get mauled each year by misjudging their timing........although it can't be said of yourself.

I suppose this is the up market version of the mock bull fights we used to go to years ago. The punters were fed on fizzy pop the nthey went into the ring with the young bulls.

I got chased by a herd of heifers in a field a couple of years ago and that was scary enough!! A good angle of capture, Richard, and all the action is in the feet.

You wouldn't want to squeeze through those bars if you were heavy. You might not make it back out in time. Great shot Richard......Sandy

Certainly more appealing than the gory of the Matadors blade, but still as distressing for the bull.
