Jura Hills...

By Scottishlandscapes
...across the Sound of Islay, the mountains are wreathed in early morning mist, but the sun will make short work of that.

Love the mist and sun trying so hard to warm the landscape up. Beautiful.

There's a lovely sense of drift in the clouds.

It never ceases to fascinate me the way that mountains in the Scottish Highlands sweep so magnificently down to the water. The curvature of the slopes is unequalled anywhere else in the world.

Malc
Malc I think two things that have caused the soft slopes, volcanic action or glacial action.
I'm no expert in this or many other things. Grin

Dougie

Normally attributed to glacial action, Dougie. The rounded form to the sides of the glens/valleys is typical for that. Glens and valleys formed by the action of rivers are 'V' shaped.
The glens of Scotland have a certain softness despite their overwhelming size.

It's sobering to think of the immense forces that shaped these places.

A beautiful coastline Dougie and the mystery of the clouds on the peaks adds to the image.
