Version 1 for me.
A very nice portrait Prabh and mono was definitely the way to go. Thanks for uploading the original as it gives me something to play with.
I felt the original was a little warm and the face under exposed so I have tried to amend in my mod. I converted to mono using the channel mixer, cropped to 10 X 8 and sharpened.
I hope the mod provides a decent alternative.
Had a go at another mod, this time with more contrast.
Thanks Phil, the mods look great
@Ken - Glad you liked the image
Hi Prabh, - your V1 is the best of them
You need to look critically at the original first prior to converting. When I look closely at you friends skin tone, - its has a strong green cast, some from reflection from the jacket, some from white balance. I loaded a cropped mod with the tone adjusted to what I though was more natural (not being any kind of expert on Indian skin tones, apart from knowing that green is not a popular one!).
I would lift the catch lights in the eye a little more; lift the eyes detail, - there's a lot there if you use the shadow tool, and then convert. I loaded a warm grey duo toned conversion. I also removed the colour stripes in the painting behind as they distract.
Thanks Willie, just noticed the green cast...completely missed it at first...thanks for the feedback and mods, will redo this one again after re-working the eyes as suggested by you
You made a good choice to go B&W here and I think v1 is the best choice. The mods are helpful but I still find the picture/bookcase at the back distracting from this strong face and would probably clone it out altogether. Nice capture and a portrait worth a little effort. A
Thanks Arthur, yes it is a bookcase...will try and see if it can be cloned out
Ok have redone this one again, new version posted here
Not just a portrait, a very fine image of your friend.
