Please, the following is just a humble hint: Whilst shooting against the sky, on a 'blue' sunny day use green grass to measure your exposure.
on a dull grey day, measure your hand against the sky and hold the button or adjust. That avoids the grey effect
And if you didn't have the time to prpare for this, adjust it later in photoshop. In doubt, you can always convert it into a good mono.
