Kaffir Lily

By chase
Posh name, Hesperantha coccinea, which grows nicely in my garden and has just come into flower.
Irresistible shape and colour.

Taken in daylight, camera left, straight from the garden, against my dark's not black.
The water drops were put there by Mother Nature, not me.

Nothing added or taken away.
Thanks for dropping by.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.

For me red and green normally do not mix - but they do ever so well in this presentation. David

This is very nice Janet.
Dark backgrounds I find are better than deep black which can be brutal. Dark is more 'old master'.

The dark vignette is perfect to highlight the beautiful Kaffir Lily.

Lovely flower study Janet, even if I'd like to see more light on the extreme right flower so it stands out more from the background. The backcloth colour and graduated tones are (as dark_lord says) so much better than the overused solid black.

Thanks all.
David and Trev, fab to have your UAs, very much appreciated.

James, I did have a bash at lightening the far right petals but it really didn't give me the look I was after, the light seemed so wrong Sad

This is gorgeous Janet, and I love the contrasting tonal range which, to me, adds feeling to the image.

Sumptuous. They almost seem to glow. Ive tried to grow them a few times but they don't seem to like my conditions.

Flowering now, in November? Somebody needs to tell them about summer!Wink
As others have said, the chosen bg is far better than a harsh black...good choice, Janet.

Yep, in full flower just now, they do look pretty in the disappearing garden.

Thanks all.
