Katibawasan Falls, Camiguin Island, Philippines

By jonathanfriel
Another one taken on a trip to the Philippines. I used ISO 100 but it seems to be there is too much noise in the image. Uploaded for your enjoyment, comments, critique etc...

Thanks

I don't think it's noise, it's more likely to be spray. Smile A lovely image though.

A couple of comments. You did not shoot this at ISO 100, its shot at ISO 400

Theres lots of noise in it, especially in the darkest areas, which is where most noise is found.

Its a difficult exposure, where you likely exposed for the highlights, so the darker areas are underexposed, which will make noise more visible.

In post processing, if you have tried to lift details in the shadow areas, you will amplify existing noise.

Long exposures should have the option in camera for long exposure noise reduction enabled.

You dont indicate if this was RAW of JPEG as shot.

The tripod was not steady, and much of the image is not sharp; leaves will move with breeze, but those rocks are also blurred.

The image needs to be rotated clock-wise to get the water level. I tried a mod wit some noise recustion, but once its soft and blurry, it cant be improved.

Willie.

Thanks for the mod. It was shot in RAW and you're right, it was ISO 400.

I was packing reasonably light so only had a gorilla pod with me - this was probably the cause of the blur in places. I may have also been using a 10x ND filter, so the exposure was probably longer than it needed to be.
