My condolences about your brother's passing. I suspect he had a print of himself stuck on cardboard and then it held it as if he was standing on his Leica.

I think this was a reshoot photo.
The photo of him standing on the camera was a cut out placed on the original print and then re photographed.
Hens the white edge of the photo at the bottom where it wasn't squared up straight while re shooting.
