Kerry

By Irishkate
While I'm on people and portraits I'll a few more.
this is my other daughter Kerry taken at The Arches in Glasgow
after the Christmas Panto. Kerry is not a poser so it's not often I can capture her
as I see her. Big thanks to all who voted & commented for images of Gwen
and special thanks to Billy (williamsloan) and Colleen for there valued User Awards.

A well captured smile.
I'm sure you both have a smile like this after yesterday's Six Nations result, if you follow the rugby. (Sorry Netta, though you got a good result against England last week).

Natural, relaxed and completely unforced, well composed.
Altogether a very nice portrait.

( ...but if you could just remove that tiny bright highlight in her hair, just above the tip of her left shoulder, it would be perfect......Smile )

I love the expression, but the focus is not quite spot on.
2 basic tips : use a longer focal length, 38mm gets you too much background, especially at such a small aperture, if you must use 50mm but @ f/2 max. Your very basic lens will do. Nut I prefer something from 105-135mm. the, focus on the eyes. the longer focal length also helps with interaction, you don't poke the lens right in front of the person's nose.

Just my two cents worth of experience.

A nice shot of a very pretty daughter with a gorgeous smile and pose.

It does benefit with some sharpening, and leveling, if I use that edge behind her as a guide. I would clone out those random white spots behind her too.

For me this is a much better shot that the previous "pro" model shot. The previous one has issues with white balance, - way too yellow, and is a little underexposed. Exposure here is much better.
