I think this is a female Kestrel - but feel free to correct me, I'm not up on my birds of prey!

Taken this morning at the nature reserve in Crane Park, Twickenham. It had the sun right behind it so had to do a lot of tweaking in PS/Elements to bring any detail out at all - but am pretty happy with the result.

Original shot in mods section for comparison.

Great capture! The detail on the bird is superb and I like the featureless, bright sky behind, brings out the bird nicely.

a wonderful shot of my favoureitr BOP Grin u have done them justice well.

p.s. im guessing from the picture it is a male as the crown of its head is greyish as females are all brown. BUT the colour is slightly desaturated here.

You have had to work well to get anything from that shot. The image is totally different and detail for the Kestrel is v good indicating the grey of the male. But I stand to be corrected.

What a difference between the two photos . You have done a great job . With Hindsight a bit of fill in flash would have worked wonders .A lovely capture . x

And another one! I'm waiting to get mine (of him). I'm a crude PSer and would have run the dodge tool at low pressure over the breast to lighten it. I'm sure there's a more sophisticated way.
