The Kestrel (falco tinnunculus)
A marvellous miniature (on average about 32 cm long) Falcon. A delight to see at any time employing his unique ability to hover in the sky whilst his perfectly tuned eyes seek out prey on the ground below. A beautiful bird and one of my favourites.
Most grateful thanks to all the kind people who made time for c/c's on the Little Owl. Most rewarding.

It just needed a little more dof Ron. The chest has the detail but softening out a little on the head unfortunately. It's always a shame at Liberty's as they perch the birds in direct sun with shade all around.

Well done, Ron, another fine ornitological image from you.
I agree, the Kestrel is an amazing wee bird and watching one hover for its Lunch is enthralling.
