Kimmeridge gold

By redstag
There wasn't really a sunset, but, I did manage to get acouple of shots with some very nice light. The weather then closed in, it began to rain, and frankly, I'd had enough. So I had to go back to the car, drive far enough to get a phone signal to phone home and read Harry Potter to my youngest. Must have been quite a sight seeing me on my own in a car reading out loud!
I have seen so many fantastic shots from this location, yet I just haven't done it justice myself, so a return visit is needed.

Any suggestions for locations New Forest/Wiltshire or Dorset way, gratefully received.

Thanks for looking.

Love the way the light from the sky is picked out in the rock pool - I'd say you did the place justice. Dave

With light like this Jon who needs a sunset, you did great with what you had. What you said about H.P. and the rest has just given me a brainwave for a shot,

Agree with Mike completely apart from the 'wizard' idea he's just apparently had!

Really good f/g detail. I think the seaweed area is perhaps too light and could be toned down so it visually recedes and there's a black spot in the sky above the mid-point of the headland.

I think the image is excellent and well composed.

I think if you have a 20% rate of good sunsets to bad at Kimmeridge then you're doing very well. I've been there 6 or 7 times now and had only one good sunset. Maybe I'm just bad at weather forcasting?

Thanks for all those comments. The black spot you are refering to is an MOD flag letting you know that the firing range is in use. I toyed with the idea of cloning it out, but settled on the, 'but it was there' argument!
Fair point about the sunsets, tenacity will pay off, I'm determined.

Fair point about the flag. I couldn't see exactly what it was, so assumed it shouldn't be there.

Hope you find some decent locations to photograph.

Regards, Alan.

Amazing Jon - one of your best...

Sunset or not - it doesn't really matter. The light, tones, sky and sharpness are great. The stones and the clarity through the foreground water contrast well with the subtle motion effect caught with the sea...
