Detail from an enormous decorative bronze urn by French sculptor Carlo Marochetti that is above the parterre (a level space in a garden occupied by an ornamental arrangement of flower beds) at the top of the steps leading up from the main garden of the house at Kingston Lacy.
There are two puttos on the urn (a putto is a figure in Renaissance art of a chubby naked male child with wings, especially a cherub or a cupid), both with their heads in their hands, looking rather sad and fed up. There are lion heads below them.
Thank you all for your interest in my last upload of the lion statue.
Pamela.
