Kirkuk early morning

By HectorRivera
This is just outside the wall of our restricted area, almost like a prison, At 0600 am this Islamic Mosque, About 1600 meters from my location, seems to be completely surrounded by fire. This unique combination of morning sun light and hundreds of burning oil wells in the background; makes up for a spectacular show of ever changing red and orange colors. It is a sight to see, but the intense petro fumes odor is almost impossible to stand. This is, from where I can see, a beautiful country, but unfortunately the war and the complete disregard for the environment makes it a hardship for humans.

What an amazing view! Interesting write up too. So sad that this beautiful country is spoiled by war.
