Knight Fight

By TrevBatWCC
On Bank Holiday Mondays they usually have special events at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, so took myself off there on May Day.
In one of the tournament halls these two were demonstrating the use of a polearm, pollaxe or poleaxe as they're also known. They come in many variations, and the ones used here feature a spike on the end, with a hammer and a hook just below. They were usually used by knights and other men-at-arms while fighting on foot. The blade or hook can be used, not only for simply hacking down the opponent, but also tripping him, blocking his weapon, disarming him, slicing him and blocking his blows.

Single Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw 7, tweaked in Photomatix Pro 4 and Photoshop Elements 11.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

It's a wonder that they can move around at all, never mind manipulate their weapons, with all that 'metal clobber' on.
Sounds like an interesting event to have attended and you got some good crisp shots.
Like the expression of the chap in V 2, Trev.

After viewing the first two, I felt they needed the headgear, so was pleased to see it in the next two views.
I like the reflections in the suit in V1 and his stance, too.
Surely the suit restricts their movement?

They work together well as a set, Trev. Poleaxe or early form of tin-opener?

Nice set Trev, It has to be V1 for me, note because of the shiny knight but because the guy in the beret looks singularly unimpressed!
