Knowlton Church

By seven21
The church is a listed ruin set inside a prehistoric earthwork. I played around for some time trying to get a composition that did not centre it in the frame but it always looked better like this. The strange looking yellow area to the right is a field of oil seed rape if anyone was wondering!

Another stunning pic, I even like the centrally placed building. The colours are mind blowing throughout the whole image....I love this!

Nothing strange looking in this one! Exceptional colours, lighting and shadows. Very moody and well presented! There would be no harm in rotating the image to straighten the horizon and let the church tilt a little to the right. Might even add to the dramatic effect no?

Steve, this is another great shot, the lighting and composition are superb. Must agree with the slight CW rotation.

Excellent addition to one of the better portfolios on this site. Out of interest, what did you take your meter reading from (if you can remember)?

DRK - I took a matrix reading from the camera and realisiing I had bizarre light conditions and the somewhat random performance of Velvia took six shots around that reading. I have done the shot again since in similar but less spectacular light using grads which has retained more detail in the church. - Thanks for your comments - steve
