This was taken in in the memorial peace gardens at York Minster, York, uk. There is a chapel dedicated to the Kohima Veterans inside the Minster. The photo depicts a personal memory of a soldier. His cap badge looks like the 'Dorsetshires' to me. The battle for kohima, Dimapur, and Imphal in the north east area of india which became a siege, centred upon Kohima, where the famous "Battle of the tennis court" was fought against insurmountable odds against the Japanese Army.
