This is a Wall's Sind Krait a rare venomous species of snake found in India. Of all the snake that I worked with till this date this was the most aggressive of them all. Krait's are the most venomous snakes found in South-Asia. Kraits are nocturnal and will be active during night hunting for prey like snakes, mice, etc. This specimen was in a non-cooperative mood and was striking at anything in its vicinity that moved so this is the best shot that I could manage.

Well, you have done everything right, and I wouldn't have got any closer, or touched him with a very long stick. The problem is that it is difficult to make out the detail of the snake - took a while to find the head. Needed a more cooperative critter.
