Another setup/test shot from the workshop (teaching about separation. I rarely use a background of plain black paper unless I'm teaching or a client brings me a Black Labrador (in which case it's obligatory!).

48"x32" gridded soft box on the left, strip box kicker for the accent on the edge from the right/rear.

We deliberately set it up to be challenging for the purpose of teaching it - gridded key light and clothing that tends not to have a shine. Then it's just a matter of showing how to fix it....
