Ladies in Waiting

Just treated myself to the Olympus OMD EM10 as a travel with me camera to replace my ageing Panny GF1. This is one from a few test shots wandering around Southport. Using the tilt screen function to focus and compose from across the street.

Quite unobtrusive and reminds me of my film days with the Bronica SQa at waist height and composing via the waist level finder - looking down on the image.

The camera itself is lovely to hold and use and I am impressed with the IQ. I feel I am going to have a lot of fun with the little OMD.

This is so good timing...the expressions, the ages from young to, well, older, right to left.
The IQ is top notch...seems like a great purchase.

A moment of everyday life nicely captured. Lovely mono with plenty of detail and good contrast, which is what I like to see. I know it's only a web size image, but the camera looks to be capable, as I'm sure the user is too Wink

Real life sometimes produces such perfect choreography. I appreciate the timing here, and the sheer nerve.

My comment was quite brief last night, I'm not a night owl. But every face here has character and a story, and there's such a clear divide between the two on the left who are determinedly ignoring everyone else, and the two on the right who are in conversation, with the profile in the middle bridging the gap and observing. I love the feet by the way. That's what I mean by choreography, life has provided it ready-made, you couldn't have asked for a better arrangement. But it is a question of observation, and timing, and being very discreet. You usually only get one chance...

Moira. It is interesting you mention the feet because it was this that originally caught my attention. The spacing being quite equidistant, the different footwear and they were all ladies waiting. I composed and waited a few seconds as I wanted the three ladies to the left side to all look in different directions. The girl in the centre duly obliged turning to look up at the girls to her left.
