LAK LAKE

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
Many thanks for your response and comments on the photos taken at the Quan Am Pagoda in Cho Lon (suburb of Ho Chi Minh City). Iím glad you were taken by the atmosphere given by the smoke of incense.

Today itís a flashback to Central Vietnam. Lak Lake was a wonderful serene and peaceful place . It is about 56 kilometres south of Buon Ma Thuot City along the National Highway 27. The area is surrounded with natural forests on the hills. The Lak lake provides a considerable quantity of fresh-water fish supplies water to the neighbouring fields and rice fields.

In April I up-loaded some photos of various hill tribes (Mínong, Ede, Thai ) taken in MíLien village and Jun village. For some reason I forgot photos of the lake.

Normally the lake looks like a mirror but on the few days I was there there were small waves. I was fortunate to be by the lake just before sunset when someone arrived in his dug-out canoes after a day catching fish

f16 1/80th sec zoom at 24mm

Hoping youíll like another timeless scene.

Have a nice evening,
Jean-NoŽl

nice shots, definately! I like the first one especially - there's so much to look at, like the the textures of wood on the close up boat, the man punting and the lake in the background all come together to tell a great story.

I used to live and work not too far North of Dong Hoi - north of where you were I think but still very similar and extremely beuatiful. I even went fishing on a lake not too disimilar from this one (the kids took me!) and by god are those boats unstable! Smile

The light in all the photos is excellent too, these really are amazing shots.

It definitely looks choppy out there - not the kind of boat I'd want in bad weather. Timeless scenes, though, and a terrific series.
