The view along the main Helvellyn ridge towards Dollywagon Pike in the foreground and Fairfield behind.

Techies: This is a panoramic stitch of two images - converted using C1, and toned/sharpened in PS Elements.

I'm not sure about the toning on this. I lean towards dark moody images, but it's hard to judge on the laptop screen. It's likely that this might be too much on some people's monitors. Any feedback is appreciated.

Wow, that's feedback! I was about to delete it for a couple of reasons: I messed up the upload size - the original image was greater than 1000 pixels and it was resized back to 1000, so the image has lost a bit of its quality, and the sunlit snow is grey so I was going to have another go at the toning again. Mind you - I do like the mood of this as well.

Anyway - much appreciated Pete, it's great to get the feedback.

Hang loose on this's the dogs, many aspire to shots like this, you have attained the best I can recall for some time now. The tones are nice and moody as they should be in a shot of this calibre. The HC is well deserved.
I wish this was mine going on the wall, get a good print done of this.
All the very best Peter

Looks great, Pete. Love these mountain panoramas. Congrats on the HC. Is that a couple of figures I can see just about to get onto the ridge? Brings out the scale if it is.
Ps Like the framing.

Works for me big time and congrats on the HC.

How did you stitch the images together before putting them through C1?

A classic composition which helps to make a superb shot. Worth much more than 25 clicks.

Good stuff Pete - your commitment to lugging your camera up these mountains doesnt go unnoticed!

I love the crop on this Pete. The toning and colour are spot on as far as I'm concerned but then, like you, I love dark and moody shots. This has bags of atmosphere. click

Thank goodness you're an E2 member Pete - this is an amazing shot when seen full size; the smaller version just doesn't do it justice. Moody is good. Another cracker.
