Lake Repluse Fires

By abeeror2
I took these on the 4th when the fire in the Central Highlands, Tasmania was at it's worse. Standing up the back of our home. The actual fire is about another 3klm from the horizon. It started at Repluse Dam by a campfire and swept down through Ellendale distroying many properties. The volunteer fire fighters have been working endlessly for the last four days. The South Coast Tasmania has been hit very hard also. Thanks for all the kind thoughts and wishes much appreciated. We are fine but still on alert. Cheers All!!

Great reportage of this disaster. Must be terrifying. Your images are full of drama and colour with V1 and V6 being especially striking though each works in the grand total of things.

A frightening set here Kathryn, seems so much more real in your pictures than it does watching it on the News here in the UK. So glad you're ok and hope it stays that way. Our thoughts are very much with you.

Amazing reportage, Kathryn, but it must be a horrendous experience, and so frightening.

Awesome pictures. Looks like you close enough to have had some concerns, and lucky the wind wasn't blowing in your direction.

Frightening captures and times for you. The fires are just making the national news here in Britain, now.

Hope you all keep safe and the fires die down soon.

Superb reportage, and images that raise memories of the speed and distance one small burning leaf can travel and still be sufficient to ignite another tree or bush ... trust you and yours are safe ... Carol

One of those images I wish I had taken but glad I didn't have to. A Friend in Aus. sent me a few pix but nothing near as dramatic as this one! Do you mind if I send her a link to this one?

These images have real impact and document the dangers of climate change. You've had all these fires, we've had lots of flooding and day after day of rain!
