Land of the Standing Stones

By Herge88
Hi Guys,

Thanks for the C&V on my peculiar Bovine image, today I revisited some old raw files from a while ago, and decided to process a few. Avebury is just up the road for me, and at night is one of favourite places to photograph, so I would be happy if you would indulge me in a little nostalgia.

The stones have a very powerful presence. Not sure that I would want to be there alone at night...

Those things don't bother me Moira, although to be fair I was with my Son-in Law.

I wish we had "stones"
but them, I would wonder if I could time travel from one?

Away back in the 1960's our family used to holiday with a farmer and his wife on a chicken farm in the village of South Marston, Wilts. It was in the days before we had a car and the farmer crammed us into his car every other day and took us visiting various places about. One such took us to Avebury to see the standing stones and that has stuck in my memory all these decades since. Unfortunately it was also in the days before I owned a camera. So your image brings back such happy memories from all those years back. Thanks for showing it.

Much more interesting than Stonehenge, perhaps more mysterious and certainly less well known.
Excellent use of perspective, Matt, good detail and b&w conversion too.

Ancient monuments, one of my favourite indulgences too, Matt. A super image.
