Reaching way back in my own archives, with my first camera marking my conversion from film (my trusty Olympus OM-2 for about 30 years). In 2005, my wife Karen and I celebrated our honeymoon with three weeks in Tunisia. We travelled most of the country, at one point deep into the Sahara desert....probably the highlight for me. The people of Tunisia were incredibly welcoming. Everywhere we went, we met people (fortunately Karen is fluent in French...i had forgotten almost all of my grammar and much vocabulary, and neither of us speaks Arabic) Everywhere we went, in this Muslim country, we told people we were Jewish. Their typical comment was "bon". Then they asked where we were from.....W (George W Bush) was not very popular in Muslim countries. We were accepted when we said we hated him more than they did. And now, we are finding ourselves, here in the US, looking at him with nostalgia, in this age of a budding tyrant, Trump.
This scene is in an oasis in Western Tunisia, north of Tozeur, where we spent several wonderful days.
As I seem to have an attraction to long series of photos, I have thought about this trip, of old and early (for me), low res., digital photos with many images.....anyone want me to go there? And, can you just feel the heat?
And, I would like to thank Colleen for her UA for my last photo.
