I like it, - its a nice scene, but I find it looks a little flat, and lacks contrast. Perhaps you may be losing something in the dodge/burn process?

Loaded a mod with more contrast, - might be a little overdone, but its to show the difference. Many people will prefer your softer/ less contrasty look, - its all a matter of opinion.

Maybe upload the original shot as a mod for comparison?

Willie

Hi Angi

I've posted a mod, where all I have done is adhust colours, more cyan, more magenta, more blue, then sharpened a bit.

Lovely composition and fabulous sky, with soft colourings. Also like the mods. PS Should have added - the frog isn't mine - was taken at a zoo.

Thankyou for the modifications Willie and Graham, I will upload the original now - which is dreadful - full of dust spots as I had to borrow my partners camera (mine was playing up that day) and rather dark. But any advice on what I couldve done different would be great as I would love to be able to take some reasonable landscape images without the need to alter them in photoshop.
Settings - F22, 1/5", iso 100, auto white balance.

I have left a mod - I am thinking that the bottom half of the picture is of little interest - just empty space - have tweaked a little to give it a bit more punch. Lovely picture though and I think its worthwhile having another play. A place I would love to visit.

IMO your capture composition wise is excellent, and the mods have gone a long way to improving it, do you shoot in RAW? if things don't go well you stand a better chance of rescue!

I took a look at the original, - and I have to say you did an amazing job on converting it!

I worked a little on the original shot, and put up 2 mods, - one of them in portrait format.

Im not a landscape shooter either, - so I may speaking rubbish, but I keep having a problem with that expanse of grass at the bottom, which I find throws it off balance. The points of interest in this are the shy, the mountain, and to a lesser extent the lake.

I like v1. perhaps a different position on the lakeside next time? A little closer to the waters edge and a lower viewpoint. Perhaps you did that anyway. A very pleasing shot though.

Thanks Willie, I rather like your portrait mod, I would not have thought of that composure, so its good to see it from someone elses eyes.

Nice sky & I like the icing on the mountains. Probably one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
