Hello A good start at wildlife photography. You have captured the fur beautifully. Good detail in the twig. I would try dodging the face again especially the eyes. A pity that you have cropped off the tip of the ear - I would have liked to have seen it. If you shoot in Raw - the file would be larger and you would have more information so that you could zoom in on the face.

A good effort under difficuly lightinh; the bright coat and the dar face also present a challange.
The lighting you describe would probably not be as yellow as a cloudy preset, and I adjusted that in the od along with added space at the top, and brighter face. I dont think you could do a lot better in-camera.
Regards
Willie

You've captured this well.
The face does need to be lightened more, and the mods show that. There is information in the file for this to work.
Using shutter priority is fine but you have to be aware that when you move the camera to a darker scene if the camera can't open up the lens any more because it's reached maximum aperture in order to compensate the images will be underexposed. Unless your camera has a setting that will override and reduce your shutter speed to still provide a correct exposure. Some cameras do.
If you think you've cropped too tightly, you can always upload the uncropped original as a version so that others can suggest different crops.
